San Francisco is a global destination and many of my clients travel in from all around the world. This session was a special treat, as it was a local couple that got engaged and wanted to celebrate with portraits at a couple of iconic locations.

The first location was Maiden Lane where the groom owns a high profile salon and his bride also provides medical aesthetic treatments within the salon. You would say they were a fated match with their business acumen and similar industry backgrounds. Maiden Lane is a beautiful, historical part of San Francisco’s Union Square area and has many luxury storefronts surrounding the area.

The next location was actually the site for the wedding – San Francisco City Hall. This is one of the state’s if not not the country’s most stunning landmarks where couples get married. For portraits you never know what will happen next and since this session was later in the day, there was a reunion taking place on the grand staircase and we actually took these portraits within about 5 minutes! It was a bit of pressure but we got the shots 🙂

Since this location has such grand architecture we recommend wardrobe that is classic and also on the grander scale. Ballgowns work wonderfully here or dresses with long trains or volume. We always recommend coming when city hall opens at 8 AM to get the most usage of the space, as it can get quite busy and the wait time to photograph in certain locations may be long or areas blocked due to ceremony reservations. Reminder that City Hall is only open Monday – Friday and not on weekends or certain holidays.

Before wrapping up their session we took some portraits outside the iconic City Hall entrance. In the late summer and fall, across the street their are tree lined paths with bistro lights that we recommend photographing at for a unique addition to your session. Seeking your own photographer?
